MOPAR CHALLENGER OFFICIAL PHOTOS

'Wicked, sinister' Dodge revealed on camera for the first time

Chrysler has revealed official images of its limited-run Mopar Dodge Challenger (only this sketch of the car had been previously released). Based on the MY 2010 Challenger R/T, the Mopar car is on sale for $38k for an auto and $39k for a manual.

That might sound a lot, given that the stock car is just under $31k, but even with all the Mopar accessories the Challenger still comes out at £24.5k in good ol' Sterling, which isn't very much for a 5.7-litre V8 muscle car. Okay, so you don't get the 425bhp that you do in the SRT8, but you can't have everything, we suppose (and you still get a more-than-reasonable 370bhp)... and you do get the knowledge that yours will be one of just 500 cars.

Your extra $8k gets you a hood-venting system, a cold-air intake, a front strut-tower brace, a rear strut-tower brace and a bespoke engine cover.

And the looks? "Mopar '10 has a wicked, sinister appearance that will turn heads." says Ralph Gilles, CEO of Dodge. What that actually means is that Cosmetic tweaks include gloss-black 20-inch wheels, black-chromed grille surround and a functional, vented bonnet (we can't bring ourselves to say 'hood'), complete with bonnet pins.

Inside, a custom leather-wrapped steering wheel accompanies Katzkin leather upholstery, and manuals get a classic 'Pistol Grip' gear shift - which looks, how shall we put this, like something else entirely - while autos are fitted with a less suggestive T-bar shift lever.

To make them feel even more special, owners will get a bespoke cover (for their car, not for them) a certificate with the VIN number, date of build, and build number, And a sketch of the car signed by Chrysler design chief Mark Trostle. Aww, ain't that nice?

Shame we can't (officially) get one over here in Blighty...
