I dont know anything about this project can you tell me more. I am very interested as I used to own Lotus Esprit Turbo Reg No.MPW71V. Which was the first Lotus of any kind to be powerwd by Lotus own V8 in the early 80's. I spoke to Patrick Peal at some length on this subject as I bought the car with no engine and all the V8 suspension and brakes along with a modified strengthened chassis and modified gearbox casing. The car was one of three pre production prototypes for the Esprit Turbo which was originally painted in Essex colours then changed to bronze as a film company test car for the bond film "For Your Eyes Only". It was later used as the V8 test car. Its last service for Lotus was to develope the engine management and induction system for the Chevy V8 being developed by Lotus Engineering. They bolted all the equipment onto their own V8. That is why the chevy V8 was so similar in many respects to the original Lotus prototype V8 of the early 80's. I believe the car is in the Teeside area of the UK owned by someone called Ian, I believe there was photos of the car on Esprit world owners pages. Regards Mike

Beat me to it - I was just going to ask. Am I right in thinking from your previous posts you've got that Esprit with the blown engine from the classifieds? I'd be interested in hearing how you get on with that - are you going to include that in some of the Lotus club articles, or keep us posted on this forum? I'm hoping to get myself a Guigaro Esprit T next year funds , wife etc. permitting!

Wow. IIRC from Guy Therien's site, the center tunnel of the body won't fit over the V8 chassis.

Jon now has the V8 engine rebuilt and has had a Lotus Carlton chargecooler adapted to suit the V8, it is awaiting some GT28 turbos before hitting the dyno for mapping work. Power output is hoped to be 550 - 600 hp.

Hi I will be posting articles with www.lotusclubonline.co.uk with regards to the essex blue Esprit I bought from the classifieds on this site. I have just sourced a brand new set of Nicosil Pistons and Liners for the engine re biuld. The full lotusclubonline website goes on line in approx 1 week. The advert in Club Lotus magazine was published early by mistake. Regards Mike

John has bought some GT28RS turbos for the car - they are the latest all-singing-all-dancing ball bearing turbos - supposedly good for 700hp. I think John is just working on getting them to fit between engine and chassis.
